To be able to make smart credit card payments, you have to understand your monthly credit card bill.
Take note of the following information: the Statement Date, Payment Due Date, Total Amount Due, Minimum Amount Due, Finance Charge and Late Charges.
As much as possible, always pay the total amount due. If you can not, then pay as much as you can above the minimum amount due in order to the finance charges that you have to pay for settling partially.
Make partial payments as soon as you receive the bill; this is also one strategy to lower finance charges.
The best way is to pay the total amount due on time!
